I s o b i is the solo musical project of Isobel Blank, polyhedric artist and performer of the contemporary scene. From 1997 to 2008 she was the leader of Vestfalia - art rock indie in the first years, electroacoustic trip hop in the following duo set (Isobel Arto) - band with which she performed in many festivals and live venues in Italy, sharing stages with national and international artists (Meg, Prozac+, Edoardo Bennato, Dresden Dolls etc.). In 2008 Rockit after a 'first choice' evaluation of 'Tracks' (the last of 5 albums, 2005) inserted them in 'L'ambiente e gli Ultrasuoni' compilation. In 2009 they took part to 'Il Paese è Iperreale' compilation (Subterra Label, Radio Riserva Indiana). After a tour of dancing-music-videoart with the great musician and producer Leo Abrahams (Brian Eno, Marianne Faithfull, Florence & The Machine etc.) - www.leoabrahams.com - in 2009, in which he also arranged some of Isobi's songs, she gave birth to 'Not a child neither a dog, maybe a flower' (EP selfproduction, 2010), a short diagonal work in which she mixed the ispirations she had from her friends of the piedmontese Canalese Noise Records, together with her native style. The rhythm is the one of her own bones, the noise of her ankles recorded by the danish sound wizard Jacob Kirkegaard (www.fonik.dk). In this album you could meet an anglophone voice that sometimes discovers the puzzled italian poets language. On the background a winter evening, a wool room, nothing much more. I s o b i è il progetto musicale solista di Isobel Blank, artista poliedrica e performer attiva nella scena contemporanea. Dal 1997 al 2008 è leader dei Vestfalia - art rock indie nei primi anni, trip hop elettroacustico nella successiva formazione a 2 (Isobel Arto) - band con cui si esibisce in numerosi festivals e realtà live della penisola, condividendo palchi con artisti nazionali ed internazionali (Meg, Prozac+, Edoardo Bennato, Dresden Dolls etc.). Nel 2008 Rockit, dopo una prima scelta per ‘Tracks’ (l'ultimo di 5 album, 2005) li inserisce nella compilation ‘L’ambiente e gli Ultrasuoni’, cui seguirà nel 2009 la presenza nella compilation ‘Il Paese è Iperreale’ (SubTerra Label, Radio Riserva Indiana). A seguito di un tour danza/video/musicale con il grande musicista e produttore Leo Abrahams (Brian Eno, Marianne Faithfull, Florence & The Machine etc.) - www.leoabrahams.com - nel 2009, in cui quest’ultimo arrangia alcuni brani di Isobi, nasce ‘Not a child neither a dog, maybe a flower’ (EP autoprodotto 2010), un breve lavoro diagonale in cui proliferano i semi e i luoghi suggeriti dall’incontro con la piemontese Canalese Noise Records. Il ritmo è quello delle sue stesse ossa, il rumore delle sue caviglie, immortalato dal mago del suono danese Jacob Kirkegaard (www.fonik.dk). In questo album si incontra una voce anglofona che in brevi momenti riscopre l’italiano di poeti enigmisti. Sullo sfondo una sera d’inverno, una stanza di lana e poco più. Qualcuno parlando del genere che fa, minimale compulsivo, math storto, lieve o imbizzarrito, l'ha chiamato Storm. |
